The Office of the President of the Republic Archival Set

The structure of the Office of the President of the Republic Archival Set is based on the organization of the records management in the Office of the President of the Republic, which has gone through its own historical development. Records management underwent fundamental changes in the years 1948, 1965, 1970, 1992 and 2003. In 1948 the majority of individual record sets designated as specific types of administrative work and records and labelled with alphabetical classification codes (A - audience, B - holders of the Order of the White Lion, T - secret, etc.) were replaced by arrangement by numerical codes (hundred thousand figures). In 1965 both prior methods were combined, and in place of book indexes and incremental registers records were registered by means of card indexes, which unfortunately have not survived. As a result, individual records from 1965-69 cannot be searched using the original registering tools. In 1970 the system essentially returned to the form employed prior to 1965. An electronic system of records management was implemented in the Office of the President of the Republic in 1992, the upgraded version of which from 2003 is still used today.

The original arrangement of the records is also preserved during professional arranging of archival records and in the creation of finding aids.
