Sets of archival records
The Archives of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic contains almost 1500 linear meters of archival records. The main and largest archival set is called The Office of the President of the Republic and is composed of records of individual presidents and their offices since 1918 when Czechoslovakia was founded.
The Archive of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic is a public and open archive. Besides the permanent preservation of selected documents, their registering and professional processing, the main task of the archive is to make this huge wealth of information accessible to the general public under the conditions established by archive and other related legislation.
The awarding of state decorations is a traditional constitutional authority of Czechoslovak and Czech presidents since 1922, when the Czechoslovak Order of the White Lion and the Czechoslovak Medal of the White Lion were established. The Archive of the Office of the President of the Czech Republic for a long time processes the lists of the holders of state decorations and makes them available.
